To help protect your work and keep firings running smoothly, please only use approved underglazes and surface products in the studio.

✅ Approved on Greenware

Safe to use on wet clay, leather hard clay, and bone dry greenware:

  • Amaco Velvet Underglazes

  • Mayco Fundamentals Underglazes

✅ Approved on Bisque Only

Safe to use after first firing only:

  • Mayco Stroke & Coat
    Please note: this is not a true underglaze and should not be used on greenware.

⚠️ Not Approved Unless Discussed First

Please ask before using:

  • Unlabeled products

  • Unknown brands

  • Low-fire decorating products

  • Any glaze or underglaze not listed above

Quick Reminder

Using the wrong product at the wrong stage can cause:

  • Peeling

  • Burning out

  • Surface issues

  • Damage to your piece

  • Damage to MadeBy’s equipment
