Wear Comfortable Clothing
Pottery can get messy, so choose an outfit that looks even better with a little clay on it!Avoid loose jewelry, and be sure to tie back or secure your hair before working on the wheel.
-
You don’t have to bring anything!
However, some people are messier than others, if you’ve never been to a pottery class before, bring a towel or cloth to wipe down or put on your seat before you drive home. It’s especially helpful if you’re working on the wheel or using a lot of water.
We provide all other equipment and tools you will need for class.
-
Introduction to Pottery Techniques
At the start of each class, your instructor will guide you through the fundamental techniques of pottery, whether it’s hand-building, wheel throwing, or glazing. You’ll learn the basics, but also have the opportunity to explore your own creative process and experiment with new methods.
Hands-On Experience
Pottery is all about getting your hands dirty! You’ll spend the majority of the class shaping, molding, and crafting your clay pieces. Whether you’re working on the pottery wheel or using hand-building techniques, you’ll be guided step-by-step as you create your own unique works of art.
Time To Relax
Not only is this a delightful and fun experience for you to take home a unique, handmade piece, but it’s also a wonderful time for you to relax and truly connect with yourself and others around you. Pottery is widely known for how incredibly relaxing it can be, allowing you to let go of your worries and become fully immersed in the creative process.
What are the differences between classes and workshops?
-
Wheel throwing uses a spinning pottery wheel to shape clay into symmetrical forms. This method is great for creating functional pieces like bowls, cups, and vases. While it takes practice to master, wheel throwing offers precision and a rewarding, meditative experience for potters.
We offer 4-week classes in wheel throwing.
-
Our workshops are single-day events designed to focus on either a specific project or technique. These workshops can include both wheel throwing and handbuilding, depending on the theme. Whether you're looking to try your hand at a new skill or create a unique piece in just one day, our workshops are a great option. Be sure to read the workshop description for all the details.
